IT Month in Illinois

April is IT Month in Illinois

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner declared April 2017 as Information Technology Month in IL to celebrate the important work being done by IT professionals statewide and to encourage students to understand the growing opportunities in IT and the workforce. CompTIA, Creating IT Futures and their partners have slated several events during April to help students and adults learn about IT careers and trends and connect those students and adults to employers for jobs. The IT industry continues to grow as a rapid rate in Illinois, contributing an estimated 5.3% to the IL economy. The tech industry employs more than 234,000 in IL, with an average yearly salary of more than $95,000. The tech industry expects to add another 30,000 jobs by 2025, and it’s important to develop a pipeline to fill those jobs.
